Alice In Chains played the Paramount Theatre in Seattle on July 8, 2016 and The Fijian and I made the quick trip down to see the show.
Here is some cool video shot by Seattle photographer “Iron” Mike Savoia. A good friend of the band, Mike was able to capture the entire performances of “Check My Brain” and “Nutshell”. There is also a link below to his photos of the show on Facebook.
This was my 4th or 5th time seeing Alice In Chains. The first was back in 1991 when the Seattle band opened for Van Halen. Sammy Hagar had replaced David Lee Roth by that time, of course. On a recent episode of AXS TV’s Rock & Roll Road Trip with Sammy Hagar, Hagar visited the Clive Davis Theater at the GRAMMY Museum where he chats and performs with Nancy Wilson from Heart and Jerry Cantrell from Alice In Chains. Cantrell discusses that 1991 tour with Hagar. The trio also performs an unrehearsed acoustic version of the Alice In Chain’s track “Brother” as well as another song about the late Layne Staley, written by Nancy Wilson. It was unfinished at the time but has reportedly been titled “The Dragon”.
Unfortunately the episode has been taken down so I replaced it with the promo and a ‘Behind the Scenes’ clip. Look for the episode to be replayed on AXS TV.
