I’m just as passionate about sports – especially hockey – as the next person. And while wearing my Boston Bruins jersey everyday for the past week, I have met some great people in Vancouver. It’s a fun time to be a Canucks fan. However, here are a few observations I made about some of these ‘fans’:
- As mentioned in my previous post, I believe true fans should show their support by wearing your jersey everyday during the final, if you have one. The Canucks are 2 wins away from winning their first Stanley Cup ever! Be excited – not just on game day!
- To comment on my Bruins jersey when you are not wearing something related to the Canucks is pointless. Go ahead and “Boo” me. I can take it. But make sure YOU are sporting that Canucks jersey, or other paraphernalia, before getting in my face.
- Spewing obscenities in my direction while driving away at 30 mph is classless and immature. Most times when I get a “f*ck off” sent my way, it’s from some punk kid in a pickup truck. Grow up already!
- Don’t tell me to “Go back to Beantown” just because I’m in a Bruins jersey. Believe or not there are fans of other teams who live in this city.
Now I’m quite sure this sort of thing happens everywhere. But remember these two things: First, it’s just a sport. It’s about having a good time. And second, being a dumb ass not only makes your team look bad; it makes your city look bad.
