To say that I’m a huge Iron Maiden fan is an understatement. I first saw the band play live in 1982 when they were on tour with new singer Bruce Dickinson in support of The Number Of The Beast. Maiden performed between headliners Scorpions and openers Girlschool at Max Bell Arena in Calgary, AB on July 24th. (I remember our car got broken into in the parking lot at the arena!) I was already very familiar with them at this point, having owned the first 3 albums.
While Iron Maiden continue to release many great albums with Dickinson as the frontman, I also believe that Paul Di’Anno was a great singer. Here’s an excellent performance from their show at the Rainbow in London on December 21, 1980.
