New(er) Music is my handpicked collection of recently released tracks from artists around the globe. I am always discovering new bands so it’s my hope to make this a regular feature and for you enjoy the tunes as much as I do.
Here’s some new(er) music from The Hellacopters, The Obsessed, Earthless, Black Rainbows and Rammstein.
The original lineup of The Hellacopters recently announced their reunion and will appear at the Sweden Rock Festival next week. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut album, Supershitty To The Max!, the band just released an exclusive 12″ vinyl single containing “My Mephistophelean Creed” and “Don’t Stop Now”, two tracks written back in 1996 but never properly recorded until now. Listen to the Swedish radio broadcast premiere of “My Mephistophelean Creed” below.
The Obsessed, formed in 1976 by Scott “Wino” Weinrich, recently reformed and will enter the studio this summer to record the follow up to 1994’s seminal classic, The Church Within. The new album is tentatively titled Sacred and will be released on Relapse Records. A demo version of the song “Be The Night” can be heard below.
Earthless and Harsh Toke teamed up for a 12″ split LP on translucent lime green splatter vinyl. This Tee Pee Records release is described as follows, “20,000 volts of concentrated electricity will rip through your speakers as the rampaging, psychedelic rock ‘n’ roll flows like molten magma, destroying everything in its path!” That works for me! Here’s “Acid Crusher” by Earthless.
Black Rainbows is a three-piece from Rome, Italy. They have just released their fifth album called Stellar Prophecy. “Electrify” kicks off this fuzz filled record.
Rammstein performed a new song to begin their headlining set at the Gods of Metal festival in Monza, Italy yesterday (June 2, 2016). The name of the song appears to be “Ramm4”. The German band has reportedly been working on a new album, which would be their first since 2009.
