Wayne Gino Odjick was born on an Algonquin Native Reserve named Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg (then River Desert Band) at Maniwaki, Quebec.
Gino was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the fifth round (86th overall) in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft. His primary role with the Canucks was as an enforcer. For part of his time in Vancouver, he played on a line with the high scoring Pavel Bure. He played a total of 12 seasons in the NHL, 8 of them with the Canucks.
