Jim Vallance is a Canadian musician, songwriter, arranger and producer based out of Vancouver. While he is best known as the former songwriting partner of Bryan Adams, Vallance has also written songs for many famous international artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Aerosmith, Carly Simon, Rod Stewart, Roger Daltrey, Tina Turner, Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, KISS, Scorpions, Anne Murray and Joe Cocker.
He began his professional career as the original drummer and principal songwriter for the Canadian rock group Prism under the pseudonym “Rodney Higgs.” Vallance has won a Juno Award for Songwriter of the Year 4 times and he constructed Armoury Studios in Vancouver, which later served as the home base for renowned rock producer Bruce Fairbairn.
Jim Vallance joined Rock 101 in the Out-Of-Control Room on March 20, 2009. Several years ago, he acquired John Lennon’s German work permit from 1960. Vallance brought the original document with him for his visit.
