Susan Jacks began her professional career at 15 when she was asked to be a regular performer on the national Canadian television show Music Hop. At 18, she asked Terry Jacks to accompany her on guitar for an upcoming appearance. This led to a successful recording career and the 2 would eventually marry in 1967. “Which Way You Goin’ Billy?” sold over 3 million copies worldwide, hitting No. 1 in Canada and No. 2 in the United States. A few other songs also charted well on Billboard. Susan also performed on several television shows during this time.
Despite the marriage ending in 1973, Susan Jacks would continue her solo career, resulting in several hit records.
Susan Jacks joined us in the Out-Of-Control Room on Friday, June 26, 2009. Here’s her playlist:
- Jessica – The Allman Brothers Band
- Darling Be Home Soon – Joe Cocker
- One of These Nights – Eagles
- Not Fragile – Bachman-Turner Overdrive

Classic Rock 101’s On The Record was hosted in the studio by celebrities and local guests who dropped by the Out-of-Control Room with an armload of favourites from their personal vinyl collection. They took the helm to speak about their musical passions and how music of their generation affected your life.
